  Thallus not corticate, grey, smooth and cartilaginous. Ascomata globose, 0.9–1.5 mm diam., immersed in the substratum. Ascomatal wall to 120 μm thick. Hamathecium not inspersed with oil droplets. Ascospores 1 per ascus, 150–360 (–400) × 65–140 μm, becoming dark brown; surface smooth.
CHEMISTRY: —
     
  Grows on the soil in alpine heathland in Tas. and on mosses over sandstone in south-eastern N.S.W.; endemic.
